B2B solution designed to create an academic discovery layer. It's the leading discovery solution for thousands of academic institutions.
"Ex Libris" (part of "Clarivate") has been producing products for academic institutions for many years. Their flagship product, "Primo", is a B2BTC solution designed to create an academic discovery layer. It's the leading discovery solution for thousands of academic institutions. In 2016 I joined the company as part of the team that redesigned and developed the NEW UI of "Primo".
I'm currently working on a new UI for the whole system.
Academic libraries were facing fragmented search experiences. Users struggled to find books, journals, and digital content in one place. Legacy systems lacked mobile support and personalization. Inability to customize the product to their institution's needs in terms of visibility and usability.
Key findings from our comprehensive analysis of how users interact with our academic search platform
Users who abandoned their search within a minute of starting
Users who switched to Google Scholar or other external tools due to frustration
Yearly increase in mobile usage across our platforms
"Primo" provided a single search bar across physical, electronic, and digital content. Features included personalized recommendations, relevance ranking, full mobile support, and the ability to customize the product to their institution's needs in terms of visibility and usability.
Key outcomes from implementing the Primo academic discovery platform
Increase in user engagement with library resources
Students reporting improved search experience
Fewer admin tasks due to centralized management
Increase in database access from mobile devices
Reduction in search abandonment

Web app for booking and managing rooms in shared workspaces, with real-time availability and smart filters.
"CoHub" is a responsive web app that simplifies booking and managing rooms in open spaces like coworking hubs and innovation centers. Users can browse room types, check real-time availability, and reserve spaces for meetings or workshops. Designed for both regular and occasional users. "CoHub" ensures easy access, transparency, and efficient use of shared resources.
Open workspaces are dynamic environments with multiple room types — meeting rooms, focus pods,
phone
booths, lounges, etc.
Managing these resources is often chaotic:
"CoHub" tackled these issues with a user-friendly system for viewing availability, booking rooms, and finding the best fit—friction free.
Noa needs quiet rooms for focused design critiques and collaborative spaces for team brainstorms. She wants to see real photos, room layouts, and available equipment before booking. Since her schedule is flexible, real-time availability and mobile booking are essential for her workflow.
Daniel needs a clear overview of room usage to manage the space efficiently. He relies on tools to track real-time availability, spot underused rooms, and prevent booking conflicts. He also wants to analyze usage trends to make data-driven space planning decisions.
Before designing "CoHub", we conducted research using:
Users attempted to use a room but found it occupied despite appearing “free.”
Users wanted to preview a room’s amenities (e.g., screens, capacity).
Felt unsure about what each room was actually equipped with.
"CoHub" is a responsive web app that shows real-time room availability, lets users filter by type and amenities, and offers quick, clear booking with room details and photos. The solution involved advanced AI tools to optimize recommendations, enhance search precision, and improve user experience. It includes an admin dashboard for tracking usage and supports accessibility through keyboard and ARIA features.
After testing a working prototype with users from two pilot coworking spaces:
Users reported quicker, smoother bookings with less effort.
Improved room usage efficiency, resulting in fewer idle time slots across all room types.
Admin users said the dashboard improved their space management.
Israeli-focused digital topographic map and geographical encyclopedia, free for users.
Key audience: hikers, students, travelers, lovers of the Land of
Israel.
"Amud Aanan" present maps of the Land of Israel and create an online geographical encyclopedia that will be accessible to the browsing public, free of charge. All this is aimed at being a tool for travelers, students, and lovers of the Land of Israel.
The current interface is visually outdated and lacks clarity, with buttons and icons that are
often hard to see or understand, especially in outdoor use. Both the mobile and desktop versions
suffer
from inconsistent layouts and interactions, making the experience confusing for users
switching
between
platforms.
Core tools like accessing nearby springs, parking, or importing GPX files are not easily
accessible from
the home screen, leading to inefficient user flows. The lack of a clear visual hierarchy and
absence of
onboarding or helpful guidance further contributes to user frustration, especially for first-time users.
A redesign is essential to improve visibility, streamline interactions, unify the platform
experience,
and simplify access to key features.
Eitan needs stability, fast access to key info (springs, parking, trails), reliable offline functionality.
Ella needs Easy discovery of hidden spots, detailed context, light battery usage.
Critical pain points and usage patterns that drive my redesign strategy
Reduce visual clutter and improve hierarchy
Better icons, labels, and visual cues
Unified experience across devices
Streamlined user journeys and onboarding
The redesign introduces a clean, modern UI with consistent mobile and desktop experiences.
Key
tools
like nearby springs and parking are now easily accessible, with clear navigation,
responsive
buttons,
and helpful onboarding to support faster, more intuitive user flows.
The solution involved advanced AI tools to optimize recommendations, enhance search precision,
and improve user experience.
